This past week I have been exercising my arms and resting my bum on a canoe trip. Four days of paddling, one day of chilling and six nights of camping with 45 other fun loving people. This tour was a couchsurfing group, but the company, Paddle with me, runs canoe trips all through the summer.
There were 12 canoe of three or four people and we spent the days paddling the 120km downstream the Mosani-Duna River from Mosonmagyarovar to Gyor in western Hungary. Wake up time was around 8am, we all packed up and had breakfast and then spent the morning paddling – not strenuously mind you – and swimming in the river, found a shady lunch spot along the bank, ate giant sandwiches and napped and continued paddling and swimming to the camping spot which was twice a bit of open land along the river, once a private island and twice a campsite. We all had only one or two showers and got eaten alive by the mosquitoes, some got stuck down by a strange puking sickness, but all shared a great week together and made friends along the way.
I took my hula hoop along for the paddle (it travelled in the trailer with our bags during the day). I got in some good practice and some of the others got into the swing of hooping too.
